Date a woman from United States. Mountains and ocean and grandkids and my family (not in that order) are the loves of my life. I am a camper, hiker, skiier, swimmer and snorkeler. I have a terrific trainer who makes me sweat twice a week. I play at a part time job in an outdoor store with my dearest friends. In fact, 4 of us regularly go camping, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, whitewater rafting, (actually, being launched into the 40 deg rapids helped us check that off our bucket list) One of my friends has a whale watching business, and yesterday we were near the Coronado Islands, up close & personal to some blue whales, not to mention hundreds of leaping dolphins, a minky whale, black nettle jelly fish. I always learn something when I spend time with my friend on the water. Another friend taught me to go under the water, diving in Little Cayman. Being in or on or under the water ranks right up there for me...next to mountains.
I grew up in Idaho, camping in our station wagon and fly fishing on the Snake River with my family. I inherited my mom's love of standing in hip boots in the middle of a river, drinking in the smell of pines and the sounds of the water, waiting and watching for a bite :)) Winters we were ice skating on the frozen field across the street or back yard, or skiing at a local mountain. Twice a year we made the trip to Sun Valley. Some of my best memories are flying into a friend's ranch in the primitive area where we spent our days riding horses, drinking from a stream..I can still remember the taste. As a result, mountains are rooted deeply in me...my favorite go-to place as an adult is my cousins' ranch in Colorado. The minute I first see the mountains emerging I am giddy and smiling.
I have a wonderful family. My son & family (3 grandchildren) live in Kansas City, and I make as many trips there a year as possible. My daughter and family (again, 3 grandchildren...how lucky am I!) live here in San Diego. I can't believe how fast they are growing up...my oldest is 16, driving!!! and plays varsity basketball. My youngest is already 8 going on 25. I feel very blessed to be a young Gramma, actively enjoying their sports, skiing with them or crashing in waves at WindnSea.
My careers included homemaker, direct marketing and catalog manager. My education (BS & some graduate school) is in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. For the past 11 years I have been working part time in my favorite outdoor store where I have found friends who like to play where I like to play, namely the outdoors...we camp in the Sierras, Yosemite, the desert, Tahoe....as often as we can. This group makes me belly laugh, an activity I have found to be essential.
I lived in Italy when I was 19 and am seriously dreaming of returning there for a long-overdue visit. I'm finding this time of life ideal for traveling to other countries to experience the culture, the people, the language the customs and food. I'm sooo ready.
As for the man I'm looking to have in my life as a friend, companion and who knows??? Someone who isn't a couch potato for sure. Spending quality time with my significant other is important to me but so is time on our own to pursue individual interests or just relax so that when we do come together it is special and interesting.

I play tennis as often as I can, but am not a fanatic (or an "A" player). I just love the game. If you can handle a raquet, that would be fun, but not a deal-breaker if not. I think a relationship flourishes when both partners have their own interests. I have a set of golf clubs, but I'm saving them until I'm too old to play tennis (:-)). I walk 2-3 miles most days (calories in - calories out), hike occasionally, and would do more with a partner. My great love is travel - near or far - and I would love to find a great travel comapnion. Traveling together can be a great testing-ground for Life! Always prefer to be outdoors, given a choice, I get great pleasure from the simple things - smelling fresh-cut grass, walking through a dense forest, listening to the gurgle of a river (and catching some fish), or being on top of a mountain enjoying the vista (with someone special, of course). Enjoy a cozy meal at home as much as a fine restaurant, or a picnic. It's all about the company. Also enjoy settling in with a good book - in my favorite chair or on my terrace while soaking up the sun. (Companiable reading is a little-touted pleasure). Sharing books is a joy.

I have been in the real estate industry working for major builders in So. California for over 20 years, but I have been retired for the last year and not so sure it is for me.

How great it is to live in San Diego. The weather the things to do..just amazing. Plays and concerts are a great date night. I speak my mind and tell you the truth sometimes not always received well, hey you asked and being a New Englander I can't lie. I have learned over the years to deliver it in a gentle manner.
I love kids and hope and pray someday I will be a YaYa (grandmother in Greek) but my 3 boys think otherwise.
