Date a man from California, United States. I’m Stephen. I am a 3rd generation Japanese-American born in Washington D.C. I have lived in 12 states - a corporate vagabond. After getting my MBA at Harvard, I started my career in marketing management at General Mills. My claim to fame was inventing Honey Nut Cheerios. I changed my focus to high tech running several computer companies and founded a high tech start up.
A seminal event changed by life when I was diagnosed with leukemia and given 3 years to live unless I had a bone marrow transplant. Finding a donor was a very long shot. But by the grace of God, I found my miracle match. It's been 13 years and I am completely cured. My belief system was based on self reliance with the ego that I could control my life. When I was told that in order to live, I had to depend on the kindness and generosity of a complete stranger - my delusion of control just vanished. This epiphany was a gift that totally changed my priorities. Instead of focusing all my energy on material success, I now focus on family, friends, helping others and on living everyday to the fullest. I volunteer at the City of Hope speaking at fundraising events.
My favorite activities are:
TRAVEL - have wanderlust traveling extensively and like the discovery of different cultures - how they live, work, play, eat and pray. My favorite places are the Isle of Capri and the Amalfi Coast, New Zealand, Santorini and the South Pacific
SAILING - I love the ocean and live on my 62' sailboat. I enjoy having my morning coffee, watching the blue heron who has adopted my dock, the diving pelicans having their breakfast, and the cacophony of the seals barking at the rising sun.
SCUBA DIVING - I have dove the Great Barrier Reef, BVI, Fiji, Bonaire, New Zealand, Hawaii, Cozumel, etc
SNOW SKIING - I was on the slopes 7 weeks this past season between Tahoe and Vail. The electronic tracker showed I skied 500.000 vertical feet weeee…….
GOLF - I play golf weekly and shoot between the mid to high 80’s counting most strokes :-).
DANCING - I was recently asked if I was a dance instructor. Nice compliment since I’ve never had a lesson. I’m just the product of 2 older sisters who forced me to practice under threat of bodily harm :-)
COOKING - all I need is olive oil, garlic, butter and onions and I can make most things taste good.
NYC THEATER - go every year and last saw War Horse, Billy Elliott, Memphis and Phantom
