I have a good career that is only a small part of my life. I have good friends who I value more than anything. I love the natural world and spending time outdoors, even in the rain sleet and snow (no, I'm not a mail man). I love the beautiful things created by people; art, architecture, music, cars.
I like to lighten up a room that's too dull for anyone's good. I like to find the unexpected fun in an every day moment. For the Halloween potluck at work, I brought Baby Back Ribs; served in the torn open back of a baby doll. What's more fun than that?
But social issues, especially the ones dear to me, make me serious. I also slow down for the environment and protection of rare places. I'm socially and politically vocal but I'm no hippie. I'm liberal in the historic sense, not in the idiotic way invented by Fox. I read a fair amount, I watch just a bit of TV every now and then. Not a snob about it, just have other time-sucks.
Got all serious there. Back to fun. I like making things and I like people who can make things. I'm not really any good at it, I just like it. I love that I can fix things and figure out how things work. I also love that I can chose to pay someone else to do things for me sometimes. I don't know if I'm a good cook, but I like cooking too. I think I'm funny, your mileage may vary. I think a lot and I like to discuss things as a way of thinking out loud. This bothers some people. I can't help them.
I cried when my dog died and I'm proud of that. I didn't used to cry (thanks to "be a man" training) but some things are worth crying for.
