I recently had on this profile that I am a nerd. Deep down inside I probably am. However, my life took a 180-degree turn 3 years ago:
3 years ago, I was a very heavy-set man. I came to the point that I knew I may have kids one day and I would like to play with them in the yard or just pick them up. My health and physical stamina was deteriorating. I decided to do something about it: I hired a trainer.
Since June 2008 my trainer and I have worked closely together to reach my weight loss and fitness goals. In the process, I have become more disciplined mentally and physically. That's just the tip of the iceberg...my outlook on life has changed. My confidence has grown leaps and bounds. In total I have lost 107 lbs! I have done several races since (several 5ks, a 10k, 2 triathlons, the LA Marathon, the Volkslauf)...and I recently climbed the tallest mountain in the 48 states! 14,500ft!
In addition to challenging myself physically, I also challenge mentally. I recently had the lead role in a community theater production of William Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.
I also keep my mind active. I am a regular performer for a comedic improv troupe. Maybe you can see me perform sometime. :)
I've come a long way and I hope to share my joy with someone else in this next leg of this journey called life.
