I recently discovered Bikram yoga. I'm trying to incorporate new physical activities into my life. I'm more artistic than athletic. I plan to begin studying the guitar this Fall. Hiking would be cool too. I just need someone to do that with.
I'm a pretty open-minded person. I don't believe in rules for life. If you want to color outside the lines then do it. I believe people should follow their dreams rather than limit themselves by what they think they are supposed to do and feel.

I'm starting off by telling you some things about myself that will likely instantly affect your decision on whether or not you think I'm cool (or someone you want to spend time with). Main thing about me:
Adventurous in terms of travel and new experiences. I do NOT jump off things from big heights-- no bungee jumping or skydiving for me (although I do enjoy hanggliding and rollercoasters).
I travel (and sometimes volunteer-- most recently in outlying villages in Haiti) off the beaten track, even if it means accidentally sharing a thatched hut or safari tent with creatures like scorpions or spiders as big as my hand-- I just tuck the mosquito bed net in extra-extra tight. When traveling abroad I don't make reservations for the most part (my favorite places don't have phones/internet). If you need to know where you are and where you are going every moment, then you should not travel with me, since we will both get frustrated. I like to wander... if I feel too lost in a town or village I can always get my map out of my backpack or ask for directions (there's always someone who knows 2 words of English to go with my 2 words of Cambodian/Swahili/etc.). Other things about me:
(1) Prefer to be outdoors rather than indoors day or night, so it's a little unfortunate that I spend 95% of my life indoors. I went to the Banff Film Festival again this year and loved it, as always!
(2) Early bird. I'm nearly always in bed by 11pm, sort of... at least I wish I was!
(3) Favorite outdoor activities: photography (close-up nature and knee-deep underwater), rock climbing, running, walking my dog, hiking, eating.
(4) Trivia hound. Watch TED videos, listening to the radio (NPR), reading, visiting museums or art galleries.
(5) I can't imagine living the rest of my life in the U.S, although I always end up coming home to California. I'm not sure where I'd like to live next-- possibly New Zealand, since I just visited and really enjoyed all the hiking. Or, Cambodia... I loved my visit there, although it is insanely hot even when it's not the "hot" season.
(6) I'm nit-picky about spelling and grammar. I'm not perfect, but if you're really bad, it will indicate to me that you aren't putting much effort into your profile, which I infer as the amount of effort you would put into a relationship.

(7) You have common sense, and use logic when making important decisions.
(8) Smarter = better.
(9) You are not solely a "city person". I am not a city person, except for occasional adventures, and I don't want to frustrate or disappoint you.
(10) You are not vegan. I don't mind anyone being vegan, but it'd be an impossibility for you to enjoy traveling to the types of places I most enjoy. In my experience, most populations in the world don't know how to feed a vegan.

-Breakfast – Oatmeal, cinnamon, vanilla, a dollop of peanut butter – so good! Food is a real motivator for me.
-Activity – Whether it's a crazy long bike ride through the hills, or just a 2-wheeled jaunt around town finding new nooks and crannies to explore, I am happiest when out and about, seeing wildlife and city life and everything in between.
What keeps me going through the day:
-Feeling like IРІР‚в„ўm making a difference. I'm pretty passionate about things like social justice and human rights. I like goals. ThereРІР‚в„ўs nothing so great as checking things off the list. Oh, I really like lists.
-Cooking elaborate meals involving tons of fresh and interesting ingredients and lots of stirring and knife wielding. And wine.
-Talking to friends and asking them about their day, and listening to their stories of drama or mayhem or hilarity and then sharing my own (emphasis on the hilarity, less on the drama; mild to moderate mayhem).
-Reading – whether something I never would have chosen outside of my book club, or breezy fiction that feels like a hug to read – anything goes.
-Oh, hugs. Lots of hugs. But mostly just with friends. It feels a little awkward when it starts happening at work. IРІР‚в„ўm going to keep that boundary pretty high. But with friends, hugs are something great.
