| some details about me: | I am German, born in Duesseldorf, Western Germany, where I concluded elementary, middle and high school. After my graduation (German Abitur) I moved to Munich where I studied physics, specializing in applied physics for my diploma thesis; consequently I was asked to continue my research and teaching , what I did. Eventually, after some 3 years of research and teaching I had finished my doctorate thesis and got the PhD in the subject matter. By the way, during my teaching period as assistant professor I taught experimental physics to medicine students in lab experiments. I recall this time as jay- and successful. After my time as assistant professor at the University of Munich I switched over to industry where I worked - interrupted by three years of diplomatic assignment in Paris, France – till my retirement in 2005.
